Tengo que confesar que yo conocí el Shangri-La de París en el 2015, recibí la llamada de mi amigo Saúl (@saaggo) que me dijo "Luisa! Vino mi amigo Tom Jauncey de @beautifuldestinations y mi amiga de @newyorkcity. ¿Quieres venir al Shangri-La? Vamos a tomar fotos"
No lo pensé dos veces y llegué frente al increíble Palais Iéna, en donde se encuentra el gran Shangri-La de París. Ya conocía la zona porque por ahí está la embajada de México en Francia, además del Palais de Tokyo, Trocadero; una privilegiada ubicación en uno de los distritos más bonitos de París, el XVI.
Cuando llegué a la antigua casa de Roland Bonaparte (sobrino de Napoleón Bonaparte) se me salió más de un suspiro y me sentí afortunada de estar rodeada de tanta belleza “qué padre ha de ser alojarse aquí” pensé. Mosaicos preciosos, murales en los techos, dorado y bronce por todos lados, unos papeles tapiz de ensueño y obras de arte impresionantes. Cuando entré a la suite y pude apreciar esa vista a la Torre Eiffel supe que una estancia en el Shangri La de París, sería de mis #goals en la vida.
Para mi regreso a París después de un año extrañándolo, fue mi momento para cumplir el sueño de quedarme en el Shangri-La. Desde que llegué al hotel me encontraba súper emocionada, honestamente no creía que el sueño lo cumpliría en menos de dos años que lo deseé.
Al llegar a la habitación no podía creerlo, toda era de un lindo azul celeste y la vista era diferente a la que conocí la vez pasada, pero la Torre Eiffel seguía ahí, acompañada de mi adorado Río Sena, pensé que el momento no podía ser más perfecto y en eso encontré una botella de Veuve Clicquot y una carta de bienvenida al hotel. No sé si el personal del Shangri-La me stalkeó antes de recibirme en el hotel, pero wow, mi champagne favorita, orquídeas y esa vista, #blessed se queda corto.
El levantarme viendo La Torre Eiffel parecía más que suficiente para tener un increíble día, sin embargo, la vida (o bueno, el Shangri-La) me premiaba con comida deliciosa del Room Service, el primer dia Gaby y yo nos emocionamos tanto que se nos olvidó el cuerpo Skinny-Parisienne que nos morimos por tener y pedimos de todo, desde frutos rojos ¡hasta huevos benedictinos y hot cakes! Por primera vez en 23 años creo que se me olvidó la palabra dieta y disfruté lo más que pude.
Tomar bubble baths fue algo así como mi rutina de todas las noches en el Shangri-La, si ésta ya era mi actividad favorita, con burbujas Bvlgari y la Torre Eiffel brillando era como un sueño, por desgracia mis estándares de bubble baths han subido demasiado, voy a tener que poner al menos un póster de la Torre Eiffel en mi baño.
El Shangri-La de París, a pesar de haber sido restaurado para la creación del hotel, gran parte sigue como solía ser cuando era la casa de Roland Bonaparte, aún conserva ciertos azulejos, decoración y obras de arte.
Cada rincón del hotel está lleno de belleza y detalles súper bonitos. ¿Alguna vez vieron "El Jardín Secreto"? el Jardín del hotel era algo así, totalmente mágico, esplendor Napoleónico en su máxima expresión. La terraza de las suites tenía una de las vistas más bonitas que he visto en mi vida, con una copa de champagne y el amor de tu vida, esa es la habitación ideal para una honey moon. Bueno, si quisieras tener una boda entera, el Gran Salón (el cuál utilizan bastante para bodas) tiene bellísimos candelabros, mármol y decoraciones de la época de Luis XIV. El Salón Roland Bonaparte también es una joya, tiene una decoración francesa clásica y una iluminación natural preciosa, sin duda dos lugares majestuosos. Por el otro lado si quieres tu estancia en el Shangri-La sólo para descansar, otra de mis partes favoritas fue la alberca, era un área opulenta pero a la vez tranquila y llena de paz, qué btw está a un lado de uno de los mejores spas de París.
Si la comida del room service se ve gloriosa, eso no es lo mejor en gastronomía que el Shangri-La de París tiene para ofrecer. De hecho, tiene dos restaurantes con estrellas Michelin: L’Abeille, de gastronomía francesa con dos estrellas Michelin y El Shang Palace de comida Cantonesa, que tiene una estrella Michelin y en el cuál pasé una de las noches más cool de mi viaje con Gaby, tomamos increíbles vinos y comimos hasta ancas de rana, cada platillo fue una increíbile experiencia, por un ratito nos fuimos de París y llegamos a China.
Como fun fact, les podemos contar que a Roland no le gustaba para nada La Torre Eiffel, por lo que el mejor cuarto del hotel, no cuenta con vista a la gran creación de Gustav Eiffel, si no que ve hacia la calle ¿qué loco no?
Hace no mucho, leí un artículo sobre el Shangri-La de París en Forbes, en dónde bromeaban con que si Roland viera su casa el día de hoy, estaría súper contento hasta con la vista a La Torre Eiffel. Estoy totalmente de acuerdo con eso, al día de hoy sigo suspirando, sólo con recordar ese lugar tan majestuoso.

I arrived in front of the incredible Palais Iéna, where the great Shangri-La of Paris is located. I already knew the area because the Mexican Embassy in France is near by, besides the Palais de Tokyo and Trocadero; a privileged location in one of the most beautiful districts in Paris, the XVI.
When I arrived at the old house of Roland Bonaparte (nephew of Napoleon Bonaparte) I sigh more than once and I felt lucky to be surrounded by such beauty "It would be awesome to stay here one night" I thought. Beautiful mosaics, murals on the ceilings, gold and bronze everywhere, some dreamy wallpaper and stunning artwork. And then, when I entered the suite and I was able to appreciate that view of the Eiffel Tower I knew that a stay at the Shangri La in Paris would be one of my #goals in life.
For my return to Paris after a year of missing Paris I finally had the opportunity to come back and experience for good the Shangri La in a real stay. Since I arrived at the hotel I was super excited, honestly, I did not believe that I could reach the goal of staying in Shangri-la in less than two years.
When I got to the room I could not believe what I was seeing, it was all a beautiful blue sky and the view was different from the one I knew last time, but the Eiffel Tower was still there, accompanied by my beloved Seine River, I thought the moment could not be more perfect and Shangri- la sure did his research because one of the first things I saw in my room was a bottle of Veuve Cliquot that accompanied my favorite view and flowers as the perfect welcome committee. But wow, my favorite champagne, orchids and that view, #blessed is short.
Waking up watching the Eiffel Tower seemed more than enough to have an amazing day, however, life (or may be, the Shangri-La) rewarded me with delicious food from the Room Service, the first day Gaby and I were so excited, we forgot the Skinny-Parisienne body that we died for having and we asked for everything from red fruits to benedict eggs and hot cakes! For the first time in 23 years I think I forgot the word diet and I enjoy the food as much as I could.
Taking bubble baths was something like my every-night routine at Shangri-La, this was already my favorite activity, with Bvlgari bubbles and the Eiffel Tower glowing was totally a dream. Unfortunately my bubble bath standards have gone so up that now I'll have to out at least a poster of the Eiffel in my bathroom. The Shangri-La in Paris, despite having been restored for the hotel's creation, it still remains with the decoration of Roland Bonaparte´s home, still retaining certain tiles and works of art. Every corner of the hotel is filled with beauty and super cute details. Have you ever seen "The Secret Garden"? The Hotel Garden was something like this, totally magical, Napoleonic splendor at its best. The suites terrace had one of the most beautiful views I've ever seen; with a glass of champagne and the love of your life by your side, that's the ideal room for a honeymoon. Well, if you wanted to have an entire wedding, the Great Hall (which they use enough for weddings) has beautiful chandeliers, marble and decorations from the time of Louis XIV. The Roland Bonaparte Hall is also a treasure, has classic French decor and beautiful natural lighting, no doubt, two majestic places. On the other hand, if you want your stay at Shangri-La just to rest, another of my favorite areas was the pool, it was an opulent area but at the same time quiet and peaceful, Beside it is on one side of one of the Best spas in Paris.
If the room service food looks glorious, that's not the best in gastronomy that the Shangri-La has to offer. In fact, it has two Michelin-starred restaurants: L'Abeille, French gastronomy with two Michelin stars, Cantonese food and Shang Palace, which has one Michelin star and in which I spent one of the coolest nights of my trip with Gaby We drank delightful wine and each dish was an incredible experience. The flavors shipped my tasted buds all the way to China.
As a fun fact, I can tell you that Roland did not like the Eiffel Tower at all, so the best room in the hotel does not have a view of the great creation of Gustav Eiffel, Crazy right? Not long ago, I read an article about the Shangri-La in Paris at Forbes, where they joked that if Roland saw his house today, he would be super happy even with a view of The Eiffel Tower. I totally agree with that, to this day I keep sighing, just remembering that place and how magical it is
