El otoño es a temporada en la que se vive "The Most Beautiful Harvest" cuando los cranberries están listos para cosecharse y convertirse en jugos, arándanos deshidratados, snacks, postres, cócteles y toda esa infinidad de opciones que tenemos para utilizar ésta deliciosa súper fruta.
Los mejores cranberries vienen de las cosechas de Ocean Spray en Carver, Massachusetts. Como yo veía Ocean Spray desde en mi pequeño Tuxtla, hasta en París, juraba que era una empresa GIGANTESCA, pero al llegar a Carver me encontré con la sorpresa de que Ocean Spray es una empresa familiar. Apróximadamente 700 familias se dedican a la producción de ésta delicia. No saben lo bonito que se vive en la comunidad de los "growers" de verdad que son personas emprendedoras, dedicadas y amantes de lo que hacen, súper dignas de admirar, trabajan y te platican de lo que hacen con una pasión tan bonita.
En las fotografías de arriba pueden observar los campos de cranberries secos, que son a los que fuimos primero. Ahí se estaban cosechando los Cranberries que podremos consumir el próximo año. No saben el bonito paisaje y la vista que se podía disfrutar, lo único feo de estar ahí era sentir como los cranberries se aplastaban cuando caminabas sobre ellos. BTW! si ustedes jamás han probado el cranberry sin deshidratar les cuento, saben súper ácidos y amargos, pero tienen un color súper radiante.
Después fuimos a vivir una de las mejores experiencias de mi vida que fué entrar en un "BOG" rodeada de agua y cranberries, un sueño hecho realidad para una "Cranberrylieber" como yo ¡no tienen idea del frío! mis manos se congelaban y para sacar todas estas fotos que están viendo, mis dedos apenas y se movían. Pero sin duda lo volvería a hacer.
Después de esa súper experiencia, fuimos a conocer las oficinas de Ocean Spray y también tuvimos una platica de Gary, uno de los growers más simpáticos e inteligentes que tiene ésta increíble empresa. A lo largo de la universidad, he llevado muchas materias de emprendimiento, mercadotecnia etc. No puedo creer, la visión tan grande que tienen en Ocean Spray. De verdad me sorprendió muchísimo como desde que empezaron, (1930) se han ido adaptando al cambio, han ido aumentando su mercado y ahora, hasta están buscando de que manera también ser orgánicos (una pista: plantando en Sudámerica)
Después de visitar esos increíbles lugares y conocer todo el proceso de elaboración de los productos de arándano, me doy cuenta de por qué los arándanos de Ocean Spray en verdad saben tan frescos y de tan buena calidad, literalmente salen del "bog" al supermercado.
No me van a creer pero yo en verdad amo y soy fan de los cranberries, justo le platicaba a Rafa (nuestro súper anfitrión, #OceanSprayLover, venezolano de nacimiento y mexicano de corazón) que cuando yo recién llegué a la universidad mi "lujo" de la semana era una bolsa de cranberries y en París ni se diga, cuando los compraba en Euros me sentía dándome un súper lujo, pero siempre siempre elegía Ocean Spray. Así que no saben lo feliz e inspirada que regresé de este viaje.
No sólo conocí familias admirables y gente trabajadora, con muchas metas a futuro (que es lo que más me gusta), si no que también tuve una experiencia que jamás pensé en tener con mi fruto favorito, aprendí de todos los beneficios que estoy teniendo al consumirlo, probé unos cócteles con arándano deliciosos que ya les estaré compartiendo muy pronto, conocí Boston ¡en fin! regresé feliz, feliz, feliz ¿y saben que creo? Ley de atracción, tal vez jamás pensé en visitar un bog de cranberry, pero es algo que siempre he disfrutado tanto, que siento que de alguna manera atraje a mi camino esa increíble experiencia.

Autumn is a season where "The Most Beautiful Harvest" takes place. When the cranberries are ready to be harvested and become juices, dehydrated cranberries, snacks, desserts, cocktails and all the many options we have to use this delicious super fruit.
The best cranberries come from the Ocean Spray harvests in Carver, Massachusetts. As I saw Ocean Spray from my little hometown "Tuxtla" and then even in Paris, I swore that it was a GIGANTIC company, but when I arrived at Carver, I came upon the surprise that Ocean Spray is a family business. Approximately 700 families are dedicated to the production of this delight. You have no idea of how beautiful is this community of growers, entrepreneur and dedicated people who love what they do, totally admirable. They talk to you about what they do, with such passion, so so lovely.
In the photograph above you can see the fields of dried cranberries, which are the ones we went first. There they harvest the cranberries that we can consume next year. You have no idea of the beautiful landscape and the view that you could enjoy there, the only ugly thing to be there was to feel how the cranberries were crushed when you walked on them. BTW! If you have never tried the cranberry without dehydrating, let me tell you: they taste super acid and bitter, but they have a super radiant beautiful red color.
Then we went to live one of the best experiences of my life that was to enter a "BOG" surrounded by water and cranberries, a dream come true for a "Cranberrylieber" like me. You can't imagine how cold it was there! My hands were frozen and to take all these photos you are seeing, my fingers barely moved. But I would definitely do it again.
After that great experience, we went to see the offices of Ocean Spray and also had a talk from Gary, one of the most friendly and intelligent growers that has this incredible company. Throughout the university, I have taken many subjects of entrepreneurship, marketing etc. I can not believe, the great vision they have in Ocean Spray. I was very surprised how since they started, (1930) they have been adapting to change, they have been increasing their market and now, they are even looking for a way to be organic, that is the trend nowadays (a clue: planting in South America)
After visiting those amazing places and knowing the whole process of making cranberry products, I realize why the Ocean Spray cranberries really taste so fresh and of such good quality, they literally leave the bog to the supermarket.
You will not believe me, but I really love cranberries, I just told Rafa (our super host, #OceanSprayLover, Venezuelan by birth and Mexican at heart) that when I just got to college my "luxury" of the week was a Bag of cranberries and in Paris, when I bought them in Euros I felt like giving myself a super luxury, but I always always chose Ocean Spray. So I came back from this trip as happy and inspired as I could be.
Not only did I meet a wonderful family and hardworking people with many goals for the future (which is what I like most), but also I had an experience that I never thought to have with my favorite fruit, I learned from all the benefits that I am having by consuming it, I tried some delicious cranberry cocktails that I'll be sharing soon, I met Boston, OMG! I came back happy, happy, happy and you know what I believe? Law of Attraction, maybe I never thought about visiting a cranberry bog, but it's something I've always enjoyed so much, that I feel somehow drawn to my way that incredible experience.
